During the early morning of November 7th, dozens of employees from Workforce Connections’ One Stop Career Center filled a small room for what was supposed to be a regular team meeting. Managers gave updates about planned construction to occur during the Veterans Day weekend, additional kiosks to be placed throughout the center, customer service surveys and more. However, this meeting featured something new and very special.
Bonita Fahy, Director of one One-Stop Operations announced that Andre’ Haynes, Founder and CEO of the Armed Forces Chamber and Patsy Brown, J.D., Liaison Officer of the Armed Forces Chamber and Candidate for Clark County Commission’s District 3, were guest speakers and had something special to share. Haynes addressed the audience first and wished veterans in attendance a happy early Veterans Day plus promoted the Veterans Resource Fair being produced by One Stop and the Armed Forces Chamber. After Haynes’ opening remarks, Brown thanked employees for their service to local residents and explained how they positively impact the lives of each person who they touch by not only helping them gain training and employment but also by giving them hope during challenging times.
Haynes and Brown then asked Andrew Richardson, Youth Career Coach of One Stop Career Center to join them in the front of the room. To Richardson’s surprise he was presented plaques by Haynes and Brown for ‘Customer Service Excellence’ to acknowledge him going above and beyond the call of duty to serve his clients at One Stop Career Center. As he accepted plaques and spoke, Richardson fought back tears sharing his own past experience with unemployment, hunger, homelessness and even hopelessness. He elaborated that knowing where he came from fuels his passion to help prevent others from traveling down the same road and to help others who find themselves on the same road by steering them to a better road filled with help and happiness.
“One-Stop plans to regularly recognize its team members for excellent customer service from this point on,”remarked Bonita Fahy, Director of one One-Stop Operations. “One Stop Career Center does an amazing job of giving priority service to every Veteran who walks through their doors and this among many other reasons is why we proudly support their efforts,” remarked Andre’ Haynes, Founder and CEO of the Armed Forces Chamber.
“Clark County is an excellent community and Andrew Richardson is a model example of citizens going above and beyond the call of duty to help one another,” remarked Patsy Brown, J.D., Liaison Officer of the Armed Forces Chamber and Candidate for Clark County Commission’s District 3.
