HOW WELL, SHOULD AND CAN A “Legacy” sports Career be “HISTORICALLY/LEGENDARY” DEFINED??
There are many, many “Would be Legendary” stars, of the NFL and NBA, and one that “very Quickly” comes to mind is The Quarterback in the City of Detroit.
Most people, who I have talked with Say that The Quarterback is “SOOO Talented”, yet His Career is, and Always has been “Restricted/Limited”, because of the TEAM that Drafted him. And, WE all know about the “ALL WORLD”, now retired Wide Receiver, who “played with Fingers and Hands so “GNARLED” that GOD, only knows how he was still “record-breaking” catching footballs, before he retired. Two/2 of the “Most Famous #20” running Backs in History, also retired early, and lag into “Historical Wonderment??=”What IF’S” of their “Legendary Times, with A Certain TEAM.
NOOWWWW= Take BASKETBALL; Before a “CERTAIN SUPER STAR PLAYER”, Challenged and “CHANGED” THE way that PLAYERS Can now decide Most of HOW to Decide WHERE and WHO They want to Play with; “BRON-BRON” (my Nick Name for the Current Greatest Basketball Player), made so many “SLAVE-MENTALITY” people Mad at him for “Daring to Choose” for Himself, “Where/WHO”, he wanted to Play For/Play With…SOO, Now its Done Fairly Regular, and “Humans/Players” are Happy to “Fix Their Careers”, somewhat MORE Freely, Choosing For Themselves and Maybe “NOT” being Destined to language their incredible skills and talents into “OBLIVION” of the “Sports Legacy Grave Yards of TEAM PLAY obscurity.
“YES”, there may be “OTHER SPORTS” that these Things have, and still do happen?? BUT, I do NOT follow those and have Not Played those as have played, during my lifetime.
Many time, Especially, during the “Jim Crow” and “Racists Past”, Coaches and Athletic Directors, New Media People and Others, have Contributed to, and Helped to Determine, How “Certain Young Stars, and Potential “SUPER STARS” did get “Cross/Negatively Misdirected” to Fade into the same “Sports Legacies of Oblivion”…
IT is certainly Amazing at how “SOME” and “MANY” of the Amazing Athletes of the World, get Put into Some “Improbable” situations of/for what their “Would be/Should be” of LEGACIES, never was achieved. “DOOMED, FROM THE STARTS”!
