Kenny Keen is the creator of SLAYER, EXPULSE, RUTHLESS and hundreds of other unfinished ideas . He has contributed short stories, pin-ups, and covers to numerous small press publications over the years like Jerry Smith’s Miracle Force, Sherman Burnett’s Blade, Bill Mallory’s 365 Women, and Ronson Butler’s Antlusion Chronicles and Antlusion Dreams to name a few.
His artistic influences over the years include Frank Miller, Marc Silvestri, Erik Larsen, Jim Lee, Neal Adams, James O’Barr, Will Eisner, Mike Zek, and Jack “The King” Kirby. He said that there are many more to list but those are the ones that made a huge impact in his life.
Comics have always been a passion in his life even as a child. He began making homemade comics while in elementary school and created several featuring his own characters.” Making comics has been in my blood ever since I can remember in some form or another ” said Keen.
What does the future have in store for him?” Well, there are so many things that I want to take a stab at. I defiantly want to dig into the world of Slayer more and explore what makes him tick. There is so much emotion behind what drives him that I think it gets overlooked due to all of the blood, action, and violence through out the book. I would also like to try doing something completely different. I have so many ideas for one-shot and graphic novel ideas that it drives me crazy sometimes. Super Heroes and horror stories are great but I would like to write and draw some comedy and slice of life stuff sometime down the road as well. ”
When he is not working on a project he can be found studying the Korean Martial Art Hap Ki Do. If a lazy streak hits him you will find him playing PS2 , watching movies, or fighting with his kids over the last doughnut.
