Mojave Road. The training will simulate an earthquake that overwhelms the response capabilities of first responders, sending CERT volunteers into action. Media is invited to cover the training, and city of Las Vegas Emergency Management staff will be available for interviews. CERT trains civilian volunteers to respond in the event of an emergency that is so large that emergency services cannot meet all the demands for service. CERT volunteers are trained in disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations, light search and rescue, team organization, weapons of mass destruction/terrorism and disaster psychology. On Saturday, volunteers will be responding to an earthquake scenario with actors in makeup playing victims. For more information about CERT, visit the city’s website. ### Las Vegas City Council Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman | Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S.
