Lavel Claytor is the Founder and CEO of Lavel Claytor’s Projects with a Purpose (LCPP) and creator of the Office Command Button Match Up App. Lavel is a Microsoft Office Specialist Master and an Administrative Computer Specialist. She is an innovative and passionate instructor who ensures her students are able to retain and apply the skills they need to advance. She has over 25 years of experience providing direct Microsoft Office software training to individuals ranging from 6-70 years of age. In addition, she has 23 years’ experience in managing various computer software training programs. She has also helped over 50 students and staff obtain certifications in Microsoft Office in the last 7 years.
*Why is your dedication to teaching people about Microsoft Suite of products, so important to you, personally?
As you may know, Microsoft Office is used worldwide, in homes, schools, after-school programs, for-profit, and not-for-profit organizations every day. I believe no one is too young or too old to learn the world’s most-used productivity software, Microsoft Office.
Everyone should have access to empowering, ethical, and trustworthy computer software training and services, as it is a critical building block of most careers. A passionate instructor and high-quality services can increase productivity, save time, and create better opportunities to gain meaningful employment, improve skill levels, and certifications.
In addition to providing Microsoft Office training, I created the Office Command Button Match Up app to help users efficiently navigate Microsoft Office functions, whether that person is a beginner or advanced. The simple design makes it a great tool for users of all ages, especially those who are new to technology or need to increase their memorization of the Microsoft Office interface.
With continuous use, it will improve the user’s memory of the command button icons, their names, and which Tab/Ribbon they belong to. From a social standpoint, the app creates an affordable opportunity to advance one’s skill set that may not have been an option due to finances or time constraints.

There is a large contingent of citizens, who still have no access to the internet, can you believe that, and do you think that situation can eventually be overcome, and that you can help get your products/education to those/these limited resource type citizens??
I have looked into the potential of increasing access to technology for our students by way of grants. I am always on the lookout for opportunities to improve accessibility. I would like to be able to provide a loaner laptop and hotspot to our clients who may not have access to the internet and/or quality computer systems.
*What are your future plans with the company?
My goal is to create a comprehensive and easy to use E-learning/online training environment. This research indicates there is a growing demand for online courses. This gives the client control over their learning environment and ultimately increases the potential to become a lifelong learner.
*Will you eventually offer “certification graduation certificates/diplomas” for your courses?
Every student that attends our courses has the opportunity to prepare for Microsoft Office certification, as the modules mirror the certification content needed to score proficient on the MOS exam. It is important to me to provide certifications that are recognizable around the world, that is why I encourage my students to seek Microsoft Office certification.
*Will your courses eventually have a “veteran” and “career placement” connection for possible job placement, (no guarantees; but letters of recommendation) division of your company?
Our training courses are open to everyone. As the company grows, we plan to partner with established organizations that provide job search and career placement services. This will be in an effort to compliment the services that are currently being offered. One person cannot do this alone. I believe community collaboration will help every graduate of our program take one step forward to achieving success.
