Terry,
The coronavirus situation continues to
change daily. I commend Governor Sisolak for his leadership at home
while I work in Washington to secure assistance for all of you during
this time. We are all working to Stay Home for Nevada because Home Means
Nevada.
This week, I am proud to have fought
tooth and nail to ensure that Nevada’s workers, families and small
business owners receive the economic support they need during this
economic downturn. The latest relief package, the Coronavirus Aid,
Relief, and Economic Security Act, will: For fighting the coronavirus, this legislation includes investment in hospitals, health systems and state and local governments in this agreement, to give them the resources they desperately need during this emergency. I am continuing to work with the Governor to ensure Nevada is prepared and that our healthcare facilities have all the resources, including tests and ventilators, that they need to fight this virus. For our health care workers, these funds will also be used to secure personal protective equipment, ventilators, and other urgently needed medical supplies. With this legislation we are ensuring our health care workers have the supplies they need to stay safe while saving lives. For our workers, we secured a massive increase in Unemployment Insurance to match the average paycheck of laid-off or furloughed workers. These benefits are available to contractors and gig economy workers. For our small businesses and sole proprietors, we secured significant expansion of fast relief for small businesses and made rent, mortgage and utility costs eligible for SBA loan forgiveness. For our students, we’re providing billions in emergency education funding and eliminating income tax on student loan repayment assistance by an employer. For accountability and oversight, we prevented secret bailouts and added special oversight requirements. There is so much more that this legislation provides to our communities. You can find more information on this legislation and how it can benefit YOU on my website at horsford.house.gov.
